Lipstick Review

If you follow my blog you already know that I'm not big on spending a ton of money on makeup and Im always looking for a bargain. Well I found one recently at Target, and picked up 3 NYC lipsticks for $1.99 each. Since I've been on my "makeup-comback" journey I've found a new love for NYC cosmetics especially there lipsticks. They apply smooth and are pretty long lasting only requiring minor retouch throughout the day. I've even been asked if I was wearing Mac lipsticks a few times.;-) Impressive right?! [Beau-tea] My Sephora Skin IQ Experience

Sephora & Pantone Skin IQ Match

Sephora has teamed up with Pantone (the color forecasting Power House) to take the hassle out of finding the perfect shade of foundation by providing customers with a complimentary skin IQ reading. The Skin IQ device scans your skin and matches you to hundreds of cosmetic products that are located right within Sephora.When I found out that Sephora offered a skin IQ scan for free from my college instructor a few weeks ago I couldn't wait to go give it a try, and share my experience with all of you.

My Skin IQ Scan

Getting my skin IQ literally took one minute.I was assisted by an awesome beauty advisor Cherrill, she was very helpful and definitely knew her stuff. She used the pantone scanner to capture my pigments in three different areas my forehead,cheek and neck.After 3 quick snaps I was immediately assigned my IQ number and was able to view hundreds of products carried by Sephora that matched my skin IQ on the stores computer screen.

My Color IQ number is #2R14.But Cherrill the sephora beauty advisor felt that my assigned IQ number was a few shades too dark. She also explained to me that sometimes the IQ device is inaccurate and used more as a helpful tool guide to help the beauty advisors find a the perfect foundation shade for customers.

Cherrill suggested that I try the "Makeup Forever" brand Mat Velvet #80 vs. me trying the Mat Velvet #85 as suggested by the Pantone skin IQ results. As you can see from the photo above the Mat Velvet a perfect match. I absolutely love how easy the apply was and how natural it looked on.I've never tried "Makeup Forever" products before but I'm definitely making the switch to this brand!

My overall Sephora SKin IQ experience was fun, especially because I was assisted by a great beauty advisor who was helpful,kind and even gave me a small lesson on how to contour.If you live in the Saint Louis Area you should definitely go visit the Sephora at the Galleria Mall! They have exceptional customer service, great products and awesome beauty advisors.

[Fashion Buzz] Miss Plus USA

Finally a national pageant that truly represents the 67% of plus size women in the United states, Miss Plus USA! It's so exciting to watch curvy beauties compete in a pageant for a national title.To be honest im anxious to see what kind of wardrobe these beauties will be rocking during the pagent.I'm also really thrilled about the rapid progression that's currently taking place in the plus size community,however it would be awesome to see some of the nationally televised pageants like The Miss America Pageant allow women of all sizes compete because women come in a variety of shapes.If you'd like to apply to represent your state in the Miss Plus USA pageant enrollment is currently open online.What are your thoughts on the Miss Plus USA pagent? "Designer Re-Sale Heaven"

I'm so excited to feature Panache Plus as the first store for my Retailer Spotlight! "Thrifting" has become a rising trend for my generation simply because new items cost an arm and a leg that college students or recent grads can't afford. Plus revamping something old and making it current seems to be the new fashion movement. When I heard about Panache Plus I was thrilled to set up an interview because I finally found a resale store that has designer lables exclusively for full figured women. I had the pleasure of Speaking with the owner Kimberley who is a retired real estate agent who saw a need for a Plus Size resale and consignment store in Saint Louis,and boy was she right! Kimberley said that she's always been an advocate ReSale shopper but when she started wearing plus size clothes none of the resale shops had anything to offer in plus size clothing. So when she switched career 5 years ago from selling property to selling clothes shes never looked back! And I wouldn't blame her, nothing makes a woman happier than to be around designer clothes all day. But Panache Plus isn't taking or selling just any type of rift raft that blows in their door! Their selling in tact designer brand shoes, clothing, hand bags and gorgeous custom made jewelery. You won't believe how much of their merchandise still have original tags on it! Panache Plus carries designer labels and brands from Michael Kors, Coach, Nine West, Lane Bryant, and Dooney & Bourke just to name a few. This is not your typical resale or thrift store Panache Plus floors are super organized by size and category. They've got everything from business wear, pants, skirts, tops, bridal and formal wear, swimsuits and even intimates! I love the overall ambiance if the store, it kind of feels like one of your very stylish girlfriends invited you to raid their huge walk in closet. While I was there I even ran into a few fashion icons like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Michelle Obama who were all just happen to be there hanging out. I love this store and can't wait to go back and maybe sell some of my clothes for some new designer threads! Recently I had the opportunity to go visit the office and warehouse of Sydney's Closet a plus size wholesale company that specializes exclusively in prom,bridal,formal and cocktail dresses.I was honored to be invited by Mat Librach Chief Operations Officer and his wife Phyllis Librach President & Founder of Sydney's Closet after meeting them through the Annual Career Seminar at my college(siba). Prior to my arrival I was extremely excited to see how a business is ran from a vendor's perspective and was anxious to speak with both Mat and Phylis again about there company.When I entered there office it was as if I was literally stepped inside a glamorous starlets closet. At the entry there is a huge vanity and to the right if that there are racks full of lacey, bedazzled and sequenced, gorgeous gowns and dresses. Soon after arriving I was given a grand tour by Phyllis who showed me everything from there show room to a sneak peek of there spring and summer 2014 collection. I also got to view there fabric color swatches, dress order board, inspiration boards,personal office, even there dress warehouse and the design room where they keep there manicans that are used to create samples. I enjoyed hearing about there best selling dresses and market trips,they even discussed the advantages of selling to small businesses vs. selling to big department stores.
