Birthday Bliss : My First Kate Spade Bag

Meet Jeanne my 1st Kate Spade Bag!

It's my birthdaaay! Well technically not until this Saturday Aug 2nd lol, but I couldn't wait to share my early birthday gift compliments of my lovely parents. My Jeanne Holly Street Leather Tote KS bag from nordstrom which originally retails for $428 but after having them price match the bag to match the competitive sale price of $299 listed on the Kate Spade site , and applying my employee discount (btw yes I work at Nordstrom ) it was $258. I know what you're thinking... what a steal right? Well it was! I end up with an amazing $170 dollars worth of savings and my face when I walked out the door with my new bag was priceless. Anywho I couldn't be happier to join the KS bag owners club. Thanks for reading.

Pool Side Chic: Alive Magazine Hotlist Party

My OOTN (Outfit of the Night)

Get The Look
Black/ White Stripe Tulip Skirt:Similar Here
Tank Top: Available Here
Fboutique  Snake Skin Sandals:Available Here
Necklace From Dots: No longer Available

I knew that this was a pool side party so seating would more than likely be limited, so I wanted a comfy casual look. Its very hot & humid in Saint Louis so choosing light cotton fabrics was key for the outdoor elements. I came across the stripped high low maxi and immediately feel in love, it screamed "Pool Party Chic". After finding the skirt I built my outfit around making this skirt the star of my look. I added a plain tank, statement jewlery and some fab sandals and Wha-La! I recieved alot of complements at the party which meant alot being the only plus size blogger in attendance ;). Check out more details on the party below!

Absolutely Loved the fit of this skirt!

THE HOT LIST PARTY

(Night shot of the venue)

I was really excited to attend the Alive Mag hotlist party and it was absolutely amazing! The venue was stunning and the atmosphere consisted of great music, food and people gathering to celebrate Alive Mags Hot List Award winners compiled of small business owners from resturants, boutiques and even the hottest people in Saint Louis entertainment scene. I enjoyed mingling with amongst some of the elite business women and men of Saint Louis and spreading my the word about my Kickstarter Campaign that was featured on Alive Magazine Online . Overall it was a nice break from my everyday hustle nd bustle of finishing my last quarter of college and managing my boutique.

Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Closet

With spring literally just days away ,it's time for us to take a closer look at our closets and ask ourselves that really tough question " should I keep this?" Yes ladies, it's time to spring clean our closets ! Making room for new stylish and current fabulous fashions for a new spring and summer wardrobe is a yearly essential.I also know having to let go of  garments that have grown near and dear to you can be hard. So I've compiled a simple check list to get you through this really tough and somewhat heartbreaking process.

My Closet Cleaning Checklist

-Does this still fit?
-How often have I worn this in the last 12 months?
-Is it likely I will ever wear this again?
-Is this currently in style, and/or does this still accurately represent my style?
-If this is damaged in any way (e.g., piling, rips, stains, missing buttons, broken zippers, fading, etc.), will I actually make the effort to get this repaired in the near future?
-If I was shopping right now, would I buy this?
-Lastly but most importantly: Do I feel confident when I wear this?

After you've decided which clothes to keep and toss, you have several options to dispose of the clothes you don't want, need or love anymore.

Option #1 Closet Sale

What better way to get rid of your old clothes then to get a little cash back off them for new ones? You can host a closet sale at your house/apartment or sale them online through a site like www.bigcartel.com . But if you really lack the initiative and energy to host your own closet sale you can also sale clothes to resale shop like Plato's Closet or a consignment shop that will buy your old clothes, shoes and accessories.

Option #2 Swap Them!

Swapping clothes has become bigger than ever. Now you can swap clothes with more than just your family and friends through the power of the internet. There are lots of clothes swap sites out there but I've heard great reviews about www.swapdom.com . A site that not only allows you to swap your clothes but chidrens clothes and homegoods as well. You can also get the girls together and snag a pair of shoes, jeans or a shirt you've been wanting forever from a girlfriend while having a Swap Party!

Option #3 Donate

Last but not least, you could take the traditional route and donate your clothes to those in need. There are so many ways you can donate, some supermarkets have drop off donation bins located in there parking lots. You can drop your gently worn clothes of to your local goodwill or local homeless shelter. Either way giving to those in need makes someone else happy and can make you feel great about helping out the community.

Remember no matter what you choose.."one man's trash is another man's treasure."  ;)

[Healthy Curves] My Fitness Journey

Watch Me Shrink (My Fitness Journey)

Finding Healthy Me
Me Today! Be the change you want to see!

At 23 years old I was slowly and unconsciously commiting suicide.I was killing myself and I could feel it as I hauled my then 350 pound body up a small flight of stairs. Maybe it was the early Mcdonalds runs or the late night delivery affairs. Who knows? The truth of the matter is I was fighting a long time food addiction and in the fall of 2012 I had come into my truth, food was killing me and I was letting it! 2012 was a big year for everyone around me that I loved. I watched both of my parents lose over 100 pounds and my bestfriend slim down as well, mean while I watched in envy from the sidelines and drowned my self in anything salty, fat or sweet. I always wondered when and how anyone reached there breaking point and began fighting back and losing a immense amount of weight. For me it was a summer day in July 2012 at the cleveland zoo with my 1 year old niece and sister. I remember being so out of breath walking from the parking lot to the zoo entrance and embrassed asking my sister to catch the train because I was to out of shape to walk up hill to see the rest of the animals in the zoo. I spent the rest of the day in pain as I pushed my nieces stroller because my knees and lower back screamed in pain with every step I took.

Me June 2012 in the gray dress! Weighing in at 350 lbs at 5"3'! :(

Although I had reached my breaking point in July 2012 it wasn't until November 2012 I started coming to terms with my food addiction. It all started with a phone call from a  good friend of mine Alecia White. For about a year I watched my friend Alecia change her life and lose weight through documenting her weightloss journey on Facebook. One day I wrote her on facebook and said I wanted to talk to her because I was ready to change and we did for about an hour on the phone. I may or may not have told her this several times but her phone call saved my life. In the hour that we spoke we laughed, I cried and she motivated me to make the change.
