[Beau-Tea]NYC Cosmetics

Lipstick Review

If you follow my blog you already know that I'm not big on spending a ton of money on makeup and Im always looking for a bargain. Well I found one recently at Target, and picked up 3 NYC lipsticks for $1.99 each. Since I've been on my "makeup-comback" journey I've found a new love for NYC cosmetics especially there lipsticks. They apply smooth and are pretty long lasting only requiring minor retouch throughout the day. I've even been asked if I was wearing Mac lipsticks a few times.;-) Impressive right?! Take a look at my new lipsticks below !

[Beau-tea] My Sephora Skin IQ Experience

Sephora & Pantone Skin IQ Match

Sephora has teamed up with Pantone (the color forecasting Power House) to take the hassle out of finding the perfect shade of foundation by providing customers with a complimentary skin IQ reading. The Skin IQ device scans your skin and matches you to hundreds of cosmetic products that are located right within Sephora. When I found out that Sephora offered a skin IQ scan  for free from my college instructor a few weeks ago I couldn't wait to go give it a try, and share my experience with all of you.

 My Skin IQ Scan

Getting my skin IQ literally took one minute.I was assisted by an awesome beauty advisor Cherrill, she was very helpful and definitely knew her stuff. She used the pantone scanner to capture my pigments in three different areas my forehead, cheek and neck. After 3 quick snaps I was immediately assigned my IQ number and was able to view hundreds of products carried by Sephora that matched my skin IQ on the stores computer screen.

My Skin IQ Product Matches

My Color IQ number is #2R14.But Cherrill the sephora beauty advisor felt that my assigned IQ number was a few shades too dark. She also explained to me that sometimes the IQ device is inaccurate and used more as a helpful tool guide to help the beauty advisors find a the perfect foundation shade for customers.

My skin before and after foundation was applied

Cherrill suggested that I try the "Makeup Forever" brand Mat Velvet #80 vs. me trying the Mat Velvet #85 as suggested by the Pantone skin IQ results. As you can see from the photo above the Mat Velvet a perfect match. I absolutely love how easy the apply was and how natural it looked on.I've never tried "Makeup Forever" products before but I'm definitely making the switch to this brand!
Me and Sephora Beauty Advisor Cherrill

My overall Sephora SKin IQ experience was fun, especially because I was assisted by a great beauty advisor who was helpful, kind and even gave me a small lesson on how to contour. If you live in the Saint Louis Area you should definitely go visit the Sephora at the Galleria Mall! They have exceptional customer service, great products and awesome beauty advisors.

[Beau-Tea] Two Toned Lips

Two Toned Lips

" Make a statement with your lips"

Recently I worked backstage for Honey's Child Boutique at the Saint Louis Pink Carpet Fashion Show a Charity fashion show for Breast Cancer awareness . As you may or may not know it is traditional to wear all black when helping out back stage at a fashion show so that you are identified as staff.Wearing black posed as a dilemma for me because I still wanted to be able to showcase my support for Breast Cancer Awarness but it's almost impossible to do in all black apparel. So after throwing my thinking cap on I choose to rock a two tone pink lip.My "lip-spiration"comes from my curvy-licious cousin Chrissy who is always dressed to impress with flawless makeup to match. The key to achieving the perfect two tone lip is by choosing two colors in the same color family but different shades or two different colors that complement each other. For example if you have a bright red lipstick choose a darker second lipstick.Check out the close up of my two tone lips below!

#1 NYX Matte Lipstick "Perfect Red Rouge Parfait" $4.99 (Purchased from Target)
My Review: This is seriously the perfect red lipstick! It applies on smooth and easy much like a high quality lipstick but for a great price! I definitely be adding more NYX to my makeup stock!

#2 NYC "Blue Rose $2.99 (Purchased from Taget)
My Review: I absolutely love this color lipstick. As far as application it was above average which should be expected for its price point.I have to say that I was highly surprised at its quality and not at disapointed. This lipstick is a def must have!

#3 Wet n Wild $1.99 "Its a Girl" (Purchased from Walgreens)
My Review: This lipstick required a little more work when applying. If you're a makeup rookie you may want to steer away from this brand because if not applied right you can give off the circus appeal. This lipstick comes off real loose and heavy when applied. On the bright side of things if applied properly you'll end up with amazing pink lips.Overall it was an ok lipstick but I won't be running back for more of this brand anytime soon.
